Guincho beach

The beach of Guincho is a wonderful stretch of sand located in the western part of the city of Lisbon. The distinguishing feature of this large-scale resort lies in its location ... It is situated within the Serra de Sintra National Park and has a wild natural setting.

The seaside site of Guincho presents waves both energetic and high. The latter, often violent in winter, will certainly bring happiness to the regulars visitors and the surfers.

However,  the beach of Guincho is inadvisable for novice practitioners ... Currents can be risky. Despite the fact that it has really a great splendor, this site Lisbon has another disadvantage: its access is not easy especially for public transport from Lisbon. Prefer a route, certainly longer, but that will allow you to reach the beach.

Praia do Guincho is separated from a distance of 35 km west of the city of Lisbon. For this, it is advisable to use the A5 motorway to access the place. Outside rush hours, the journey will not take you more than 30 minutes. On the other hand, if you examine the tailbacks and the traffic jams, you will be able to wait 2 or even 3 hours before being able to reach the beach of Guincho. To park, simply land at the northern end of the beach where you will find a large car park next to Bar do Guincho.

In the years 1969, the beach of Guincho was specially chosen to serve as location of the movie "At His Majesty's Secret Service". It is in this mystical and secret place that the famous character of James Bond, played by George Lazenby, goes to help the Countess Vicenzo and fights with two men who wanted to murder him.T

The beach of Guincho is a wonderful paradise for surfers, kite surfers and windsurfers. The breeze that breaks out regularly brings a certain freshness even during the summer periods. It is not ideal to prefer this station if you want to take advantage of the sun quietly ... Your umbrella and your personal belongings will not be able to hold properly because of the wind, it could be inconvenient if you do not plan heavy objects to contain them so as to avoid them from moving.

The still wild scenery intensifies its appearance giving this impression of freedom and the desire to go on an adventure. The beach of Guincho stretches over 800m and is often less crowded even in summer. From time to time, its water is cold and ideal for the practice of various water sports thanks to its immense waves up to 3 meters.
