Gastronomy in Lisbon

The most traditional afters are pastéis de nata, gourmet pastries made with puff pastry and a delicious cream, all sprinkled with cinnamon and a powdered sugar.At the beginning of the afternoon, do not neglect the lanche, a kind of snack that is only taken in the afternoon. Generally, this kind of small snack is salty. In the style of  Lisbon, either you take a torrada, a kind of thick toast with a salty sandwich or a misto croissant, topped with ham and cheese.Lisbon is an excellent destination offering a trip with the most exceptional taste. Be surprised by the bacalhau com natas, a cod-based main course that is baked with cream and potatoes. Bacalhau Bràz or fried cod with eggs and potatoes and bacalhau a Lagareiro or cod cooked in the oven with onions and peppers are tasty dishes that are often served on the Lisbon tables.On the other hand, if you do not really like fish, you can always turn to Carne de Porco in Alentejo, a traditional dish based on pork concocted in the style of the Alentejo. On the plate you will find a mixture of potatoes, pork and clams.Of course, Caracóis or snails are very popular and well cooked in Lisbon. If you love soup, you can ask the chef to prepare a caldo verde or a cabbage soup with chorizo, a real Lisbon delight. If you prefer a more substantial soup, you can order a sopa a pedra or stone soup, sausage, vegetables (potato and carrot) with a touch of beans, all spicy generously.As for the drinks, you should not deprive yourself of the unmissable  Port wine during a getaway in Lisbon. But you can also sip le vinho verde, the licor Beirao not forgetting the ginja, a black cherry liqueur ... Of course drink moderately !
